Name: RDPY Catch 22 EVWD

DOB: 09/21/2009

NARR: 100230/M

Status:  Died 7/2011

Type: Diluted Cinnamon/Burmese Pearl Bareback Top Eared Velveteen

Comments: Catch's exact color is unknown to me.  The breeder posted it as beige, but unfortunately that is not possible based on the pedigree.   When bred to his sister (Siamese with other dilutes) they produced cinnamon, siamese, black, pearl-type color, Russian Blue, and Russian Blue agouti, Burmese, and agouti.   The agouti that was produced we named Feio!

*As a side note I bred Catch 22's sister to a male named "romance regardless" who was mostly white when some cute marking (black) on his face.  It was from this litter that EVWD Cookie Crisp, my favorite rat of all time was produced!

He was good in size and had a short, soft coat that was dense and wavy.  He was shy and preferred to live alone. This boy came to me from Rat Dippity Rattery in Oct 2009.  We were trying to figure out the mystery of their coat type.  The breeder said that she paired two smooth coats and ended up with several offspring in the litter having a velveteen coat.  I have been working with this gene for a year and a half.  There are two genes coat type genes working together.  What is unique about the genes is that when two of these soft velveteens are crossed, instead of the typical offspring being "faux hairless" you end up with a double thick very soft coat that develops after the first moult.  That is different than what is seen in other double velveteens in the hobby and double rexes.  The coat is not however, curly.

Catch's mother was Gellie Bellie, a miss-marked masked black rat and the father may have been RRLM Wheaten who was a Wheaten Burmese, he was a velveteen and Agouti Burmese masking the Blacked eyed gene, and this would better explain the results seen in the litter.  (I mean no offense against the breeder.  Accidents/mistakes do occur in rat breeding from time to time.)

Parents: TMCC Warner of RDPY (May have been RRLM Wheaten RDPY) X RDPY Gellie Bellie
